Lydia Murphy, Account Executive for Leavitt Insurance Agency, was recently highlighted as “Member of the Month” by the United Way of Southern Nevada as a United Way Young Philanthropists Society member and Tocqueville Society member.
Lydia is passionate about United Way’s work with young children through Success by 6, giving young children access to high-quality, curriculum-based preschool programs, trained child care providers, and active learning environments.
Growing up Lydia lived next to a neighbor who cared for an autistic child. This experience created a passion for reaching out to children with autism, so she now serves as a Board Member for the Lili Claire Foundation, which is a family resource center for children with neurogenic disorders.
Lydia believes that United Way provides a valuable resource to children and families, offering somewhere to go for information, services, and direction.
“I hope that more people see the benefits that United Way gives to the community,” said Lydia. “Most of time, we don’t hear what the United Way does, but everyone knows the name.”
Lydia believes that we are all vital in this community and we must all get involved to create change.
“If you are thinking about getting involved with United Way…DO IT,” said Lydia. “My involvement in the United Way just makes me feel ‘right’ with the world.”
