Leavitt Group helped address childhood food insecurity in Iron County, Utah, this summer by providing employee volunteers for Utah Food Bank’s Summer Food Service Program. The company will continue helping local students throughout the year through volunteer service and financial contributions.
“We are incredibly grateful to Leavitt Group for their ongoing financial support and hands-on volunteer efforts in Iron County,” said Ginette Bott, president and CEO at Utah Food Bank. “Longstanding community partnerships like this help ensure that families have reliable access to food resources when children are out of school and throughout the year.”
From June 1 through Aug. 7, Leavitt Group employees volunteered at Cedar City’s Main Street Park, one of the food bank’s service sites. The program provided free meals to children and teens ages 18 and younger during the summer months when school meals were unavailable. Employees volunteered during paid work hours, with five team members serving each week.
“Helping address food insecurity in our community, particularly among children, is important to our company,” said Joe Callister, chief operating officer at Leavitt Group. “Utah Food Bank’s Mobile School Pantry program provides critical food assistance to students and families, and we are grateful for the opportunity to be part of that effort.”
Leavitt Group is entering its eighth year of supporting Utah Food Bank’s school-year programs through financial contributions benefiting students at East Elementary School and Three Peaks Elementary School.
“We are incredibly grateful for Utah Food Bank and the difference it makes for students and families at East Elementary,” said Shannon Hinman, vice principal at East Elementary School. “With 56% of our students qualifying for free or reduced-price meals, this help ensures families have access to the food students need to learn, grow, and thrive.”
