One Utah Summit Features Leavitt Group Leadership

Leavitt Group recently participated in the One Utah Summit held at Southern Utah University (SUU), where business, government, education, and community leaders from across the state gathered to discuss issues affecting Utah’s future.

Eric Leavitt, executive chairman and CEO of Leavitt Group, was a featured speaker, while GBS Benefits, a Leavitt Group employee benefits agency, served as a platinum sponsor and exhibited at the trade show.

Leavitt delivered a presentation titled “Same Boat: Building Durable Partnerships Through Shared Ownership,” drawing on Leavitt Group’s history as a family-founded business headquartered in Cedar City. His remarks focused on three elements essential to lasting partnerships: structure, culture, and stewardship.

The presentation explored how organizations can align interests through shared ownership, build trust through a strong culture, and sustain long-term relationships through stewardship when competing interests arise. Leavitt also connected those principles to broader challenges facing Utah, including housing affordability, infrastructure development, economic opportunity, and collaboration among business, government, educational institutions, and community organizations.

“Many of Utah’s most consequential opportunities require cooperation among people and institutions whose interests are related but not identical,” said Leavitt. “We need to structure partnerships fairly, establish clear expectations for how we work together, and remain willing to protect the shared purpose.”

Leavitt’s invitation to speak at the event reflects his longstanding involvement in both Utah’s business and higher education communities. A former chair of the SUU Board of Trustees, he helped strengthen ties between the university and the business community. The Leavitt family has been a longtime supporter of SUU, which has educated many Leavitt Group employees.

The three-day summit, which centered on the theme “Building Prosperity for Generations,” included keynote presentations, panel discussions, networking opportunities, and an exhibit hall featuring businesses and public agencies from across Utah. Gov. Spencer Cox, Lt. Gov. Deidre Henderson, and U.S. Rep. Celeste Maloy were among the speakers.
