Jenkins Insurance Group has announced its affiliation with the Leavitt Group, the 14th largest insurance brokerage in the United States. The Leavitt Group, based in Cedar City, Utah, will co-own the agency with local managers Curt Perata, Mark Karpenko, and John Connell. The transaction will allow Jenkins Insurance to maintain local ownership and management, while providing its clients with additional products and services.
“As we have worked together to perpetuate Jim Jenkins’ ownership and reputation in the firm, we felt we met all our objectives with this affiliation,” said Curt Perata. “In addition to local ownership, we will keep our culture of entrepreneurship and creativity, allowing us to collaborate with clients and add value unsurpassed in the marketplace.”
As part of the affiliation, Athens Benefits Insurance Services, Inc. and James C Jenkins Insurance Services Inc. have merged and will operate as Jenkins Insurance Group, thus combining the property/casualty and employee benefits operations. Athens Administrators, which provides workers compensation claims management service, will remain a separate entity owned by Jim C. Jenkins and his son, James R. Jenkins.
“Jim Jenkins has been a good builder and careful steward of a remarkable business,” said Dane Leavitt, CEO of the Leavitt Group. “We appreciate Jim, and the trust extended us by this affiliation. We look forward to working with our new co-owners and the strong, dedicated team of insurance professionals in Jenkins Insurance Group. We are grateful to now be associated with them, and believe we have a great future together.”
The agency will continue to do business as Jenkins Insurance Group. The day-to-day operations for the agency and clients will continue to run smoothly as they have. There will be greater access to insurance markets and specialty products, additional management support, and other services provided by the Leavitt Group network. “As an affiliated agency working with The Leavitt Group, we will continue our history of entrepreneurship, growth and client commitment,” said Mark Karpenko. “Our employees and our dedication to clients remain our top priority.”
Jenkins Insurance will continue its long history of support for East Bay communities. “We will continue to be active in the community and look forward to participating in the upcoming ‘East Bay’s Best’ this month,” said John Connell. The agency is a lead sponsor for the 8th annual East Bay Awards this month which help fund the Bay Area Leadership Foundation and honor individuals and corporate leaders committed to making the East Bay communities a better place to live and work
