Agencies Team Up with Firemans Fund Insurance Company

With Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company, Leavitt Insurance Agency and PrideMark-Everest Insurance Service were able to award grants to local fire departments.

Leavitt Insurance Agency awarded a $25,000 grant to the Boulder City Fire Department for 13 new sets of turnout gear. PrideMark-Everest awarded a $12,766 grant to the Orange County Fire Authority for Register In Education (RIE).

Turnout gear is protective, fire-resistant clothing firefighters wear when responding to incidents like fires or major vehicle crashes. The clothing protects them from exposure to chemicals, heat and flames.

“We are proud to help in such a meaningful way, knowing these firefighters will benefit from such an important donation,” said Rod Leavitt, president of Leavitt Insurance Agency. “Having updated protective gear isn’t a luxury – it’s critical to the well-being of all firefighters.”

The Orange County Fire Authority will use the funds donated by PrideMark-Everest for RIE, which works collaboratively with local agencies to collect and provide information to teachers, students, and parents with innovative teaching tools and the opportunity to use the newspaper as a living textbook. The publication, which is part of the Orange County Register, serves public and private schools of Orange County.

“The children of Orange County will greatly benefit from the lessons learned involving fire safety,” notes Angleo N. Maroutsos, managing principal of PrideMark-Everest Insurance. “By helping the local fire authority, we are reaching thousands of young children, and we are preparing them to deal with the various fire emergencies that we face daily. We are proud to play a small part in this educational effort.”

The grant package is part of a nationwide program called Fireman’s Fund Heritage®, which is funded by Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company. The program is designed to provide needed equipment, training and educational tools to local fire departments. Since 2004, Fireman’s Fund has issued grants to over 1,000 different departments totaling more than $18 million. Independent insurance agencies/brokers that sell Fireman’s Fund products are able to direct these grants to support fire stations in their communities.
