The room was still as Randy Jones leaned into the microphone before the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works. With him, he carried decades of service to his hometown of Guntersville, Alabama, to his community, and to the values that shaped his career. Stretched out before him was his next chapter of service.
In October, Randy, co-owner of Randy Jones & Associates (a Leavitt Group affiliate), appeared before the U.S. Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works as a nominee of President Donald Trump to serve on the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) Board of Directors. In early December, he will be confirmed as a TVA board member, an appointment that reflects a lifetime of local leadership and a deep commitment to the region he calls home.
“My driving philosophy is passion, humility of where we came from, and integrity in all that we do,” Randy said. “And I want to bring that same philosophy to the TVA Board.”
A Lifelong Leader
Randy’s path to national service began close to home. As a fifty-year resident of Guntersville, he’s built his life and career on the shores of the reservoir that bears his town’s name — a community where the TVA’s work has long shaped daily life and economic opportunity. For Randy, the connection between community, energy, and stewardship isn’t theoretical; it’s personal.
He has served on the City of Guntersville Electric Board since 2000, helping guide one of the smaller local utilities within the TVA system. This role gave him firsthand insight into how reliable, affordable energy sustains not just industry but also families.
Randy also serves as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for Jacksonville State University, overseeing a $200 million budget and helping advance educational access for more than 10,000 students across northeast Alabama. His leadership has always reflected the same values he now brings to the TVA: stewardship and an unwavering sense of responsibility to others.
