Founders of Leavitt Group, Dixie and Anne Leavitt, were recently named 2023 Insurance Industry Hall of Fame Inductees with the Utah Independent Agents and separately received the Utah Rural Legacy Leader award at the annual One Utah Summit.
Utah Independent Agents (UIA) is the insurance industry trade association in the state of Utah and has been supporting insurance agents in Utah since 1919.
The annual One Utah Summit takes place each year in early October at Southern Utah University’s campus in Cedar City, Utah. It is a premier rural event with a rich history of convening Utah’s top leaders and decision-makers who influence the economic viability of rural Utah. Each year they recognize a leader who has contributed a career of service, making a significant impact on rural Utah.
Dixie expressed gratitude for receiving the Utah Rural Legacy Leader award saying, “We have worked our whole lives together as a team. Anne is as deserving of this award as I am. Thank you for the service you provide here in rural Utah.”
Anne stated, “The greatest joys have always been the people with whom we’ve worked. We sincerely hope each person’s association with Leavitt Group blesses their lives and that all are nourished by our touchstone of integrity and our culture of caring.”
Dixie and Anne Leavitt have been a fixture in Utah’s insurance market since joining the industry in 1952. After finding success with his own agency, Dixie created a partnership model that is still unique in the insurance industry. His 60-40 co-ownership arrangement became the model for Leavitt Group acquisitions, and it fostered a key cultural principle that gave on-the-ground agency managers a stake in their agency’s success. The positive impact of this model and the opportunity it gave to local managers leaves a legacy that Leavitt Group stays true to today as one of the largest insurance brokers in the United States.
“Their induction into the Utah Insurance Hall of Fame by the Utah Independent Agents was a fitting acknowledgment of their massive contribution to the development of the independent insurance agency industry in Utah as well as throughout the country,” said Eric Leavitt, CEO of Leavitt Group Enterprises and son of Dixie and Anne. “These awards remind us of the great good they’ve done in rural Utah as leaders in so many ways. Their impact is readily evident across all Southern Utah, and they’re inspiring examples of industry, innovation, generosity, grace, and love.”
In addition to their contribution to the insurance industry, Dixie served in the Utah legislature for 18 years, Anne authored “Southern Utah University: The First 100 Years, A Heritage History,” and they continue to provide scholarships and housing for numerous university students through the Dixie and Anne Leavitt Family Foundation. They both are accomplished and have left a long legacy on Utah and its population.
