Community members will have access to low-cost blood test, health screenings, wellness resources, and educational programs during a Community Health Fair on June 24 at Southwest Technical College in Cedar City, Utah.
The event is a partnership between It Starts With Me Health (a Leavitt Group agency), Cedar City Hospital, and the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce. The health fair is intended to make preventive health services and information more accessible to residents throughout Iron County.
Health screenings will be available from 6:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. and will include a variety of low-cost blood tests offered by It Starts With Me Health. Available screenings include a general health panel, comprehensive metabolic panel, complete blood count, diabetes panel, pre- and post-menopausal panel, testosterone screening, health and fitness panel, and other laboratory tests.
“We’re pleased to bring these services together in one location and make them more accessible to the community,” said Dan Keith, chief executive officer of It Starts With Me Health. “Preventive screenings can provide valuable information about a person’s health, and this event gives community members access to a wide range of testing, with general health panels starting at $59.”
Intermountain Health will provide on-site mammography services through its mobile mammogram unit and will offer information on preventive care, diabetes education, nutrition, cancer services, and orthopedic care from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
In conjunction with the health fair, the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce will host a health and wellness resource fair from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Additionally, they will host workforce retention and mental health seminar for employers and managers from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.
“Employee health and well-being is an important business issue for organizations of every size,” said Tessa Douglas, CEO of the Cedar City Chamber of Commerce. “When employers understand how to recognize challenges, start productive conversations, and connect people with available resources, they create stronger workplaces and a healthier workforce. The seminar at 9:30 is specially designed to give business leaders practical tools they can use to support their teams, strengthen workplace culture, and improve employee retention.”
Organizers encourage participants to schedule appointments in advance, although walk-ins will be accepted as availability allows.
