June is here and brings a variety of outdoor summer activities for us to enjoy. This year summer solstice falls on Father’s Day (Sunday, June 20). This is a great month to bring attention to men’s health and simultaneously celebrate the opportunity to be in the great outdoors!
Physical – Stay hydrated during outdoor activities by keeping a water bottle nearby and sipping on it throughout the day.
Emotional – In a poll of 21,000 American men, nearly one in ten men reported experiencing some form of depression or anxiety, but less than half sought treatment. Encourage the men in your life to seek help when facing mental struggles.
Intellectual – Be smart and safe while enjoying the outdoors this season. Know the risks and safety precautions before participating in outdoor activities. When trying a new outdoor activity, such as rock climbing, repelling, or river rafting, invite a friend who is experienced in the activity to come along and show you the ropes.
Financial – Spending time in nature is one of the most financially effective and mentally rejuvenating activities available. Schedule time to step outside and explore natural local wonders.
Environmental – Respect the outdoor trails by leaving no trace behind and by picking up after others who have not done so. This can help to preserve the beauty of the outdoors.
Social – Reconnect with the men in your life to make sure they are supported both emotionally and socially.
