“Discover the great ideas that lie inside you by discovering the power of sleep.” – Arianna Huffington
If you have ever thought of napping as a waste of time, think again. According to an article published by themuse, sleeping could be one of the best ways to work towards a solution.
Josh Waitzkin, chess prodigy and author, swears by the soporific method as he has employed its practice into his personal and professional life for 20 years.
Whether you are “considering a new career path, mulling over a hostile conversation with a lazy co-worker, or thinking about quitting your job,” Waitzkin advises taking the following steps before heading to bed:
- Think deeply; “[let] the issue flood your mind.”
- “Move onto another task—working out, folding laundry, prepping dinner,” etc.
- Place a notebook within arm’s reach of your bed.
- The moment you wake up, write down what comes to mind.
While this method may not be the solution to all dilemmas, “you might discover a few creative thoughts that help shape your next steps.”
