June 6, 1944
Today marks 73 years since the day 160,000 Allied troops landed along the beaches of Normandy, France—granting an unprecedented victory during World War II. To those who embarked on invasion, General Dwight D. Eisenhower reinforced with the following words:
“I have full confidence in your courage and devotion to duty and skill in battle. We will accept nothing less than full Victory! Good luck! And let us beseech the blessing of Almighty God upon this great and noble undertaking.” – Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower
Although we may never be able to measure the effects these words had on those troops, we recognize the lasting impact these men and women had on the world as they sacrificed their lives for the future.
